Apply to Graduate School at EMU
Thank you for considering applying to the Graduate School at Eastern Michigan University. The next step is to apply for admission to your desired program for your intended first semester of graduate study. To apply:

Selecting "Apply Now" below will take you to a Centralized Application Service (CAS) hosted by Liaison.
To begin your EMU Graduate Application, you will create a username and password. After creating an account, a list of EMU programs appears on the screen; scroll through the list to find your EMU program.
At a minimum, within the CAS system, you are asked to pay an application fee (valid for one year) and submit transcripts from previously attended institutions.
The application requires international applicants to submit additional documents required for studying in the United States.
Please carefully read the instructions that appear throughout the application pages, as your program may require additional documents.
Please note that your program may not accept applicants every term.
How do I complete an application that I previously started?Expand dropdown
Please choose a program and term and click the apply button to go to the proper application system. If you already have a login ID and PIN, please use them to finish the application. If you no longer have the login credentials, please use the reset password functions within the application system to retrieve your login credentials. If you are using CAS to apply, please contact CAS support for login issues.
Where do I send my transcripts?Expand dropdown
Applicants will follow instructions within CAS to request transcripts from previously attended schools.
How do I follow the progress of my submitted application?Expand dropdown
Please refer to the EMU Academic Catalog for all admissions requirements for the program you applied to. You will be notified through email if you have outstanding items. Once a decision is made, you will be notified through email of the decision. Please make sure you add [email protected] to your contact list to receive all communications.
Can I submit applications to more than one EMU graduate program?Expand dropdown
Yes. Moreover, you are permitted to apply for admission to all such programs in the same semester, or you can apply for admission to different programs in different semesters.
Can I use the same application materials to apply to a second EMU graduate program?Expand dropdown
Different programs may require different application materials. Please refer to the EMU Academic Catalog for detailed admissions requirements for the program you are interested in.
In many cases, if you apply to a different term, updated materials are needed to reflect the most up-to-date information. If you apply to the same term, transcripts and evaluations can be shared. You will need to send in new copies for other required materials.
What if I submit my application and later change my mind about the semester in which I would like to start my graduate studies?Expand dropdown
Don’t worry. We will always permit you to update your application materials to reflect the semester that you desire within a two year cycle from the original application date. Please fill out the Graduate Admission Update Form [PDF] and send it back to us. If you would like to change to a semester outside of the application cycle, please submit a new application. Please contact the graduate program's department for specific program questions. The program’s department is listed with the program information in the EMU Academic Catalog.
How do I change to a different major?Expand dropdown
A new application is necessary and please also check the graduate catalog for specific program information including start dates, deadlines and required application documents.
What if I have not registered for classes in the past two years?Expand dropdown
Graduate students must submit a new application and pay the application fee to reapply.
